Studio 5 receives 2023 ReScape Economic Impact Award from Minnesota Brownsfields (NEWS)
Studio 5 received the 2023 ReScape Economic Impact award from Minnesota Brownsfields
Studio 5 is located in the Old Town neighborhood of Mankato and is part of the city’s downtown revitalization district.
Cleanup response actions included environmental monitoring and sampling, excavation and the off-site disposal of contaminated soils and the installation of vapor controls. Vapor issues at the site triggered the installation of a vapor mitigation system in an adjacent commercial building and testing performed in adjacent residential properties.
Studio 5 was forced to make changes to the project as a result of market conditions due to COVID 19. The developer modified the amount of commercial space in the building, adding 2 additional apartment units to replace the planned commercial. Studio 5 has contributed to the revitalization of the Old Town neighborhood in Mankato, creating jobs and housing units. The design of the mixed-use building encourages pedestrian movement and the plaza area provides opportunities for public art installations, seating and bike racks. Studio 5 apartments were fully leased within one month and new small businesses are opening throughout Old Town.
WEB Construction, Coldwell Banker Fisher Group, City of Mankato, USEPA, DEED, MPCA and Braun Intertec were the team behind the success of this project.
